AI as a practice partner?
« på: 3. desember 2012, 05:14 »
Does anyone use the SC2 AI to practice new builds? Or try out new strategies?

I literally only just tried it in the last few days.

While I can do a 1 rax FE and win against the AI on very hard, I cannot seem to beat it on Insane.

At least, not while doing the 1 rax FE. I guess I could try other builds, but that is what I am practicing at the mo...

What is your experience?

i dont think practice against AI is good,  making a game with only yourself in it and practiceing your build orders to perfection/new build orders is awesome and by far one of the best ways to learn, you get perfect timings/ect if you repeat the build enough it will become natural to you before going on ladder meaning you can easily adapt to what your opponent is throwing at you and still do the timings within a reasonable time, i belive most people do this 10-20 times with their new builds.

Playing against the ai is usually not really practical because the difficult ai either cheats or does one base stuff that no one does ever. As Luvz says playing a game just with yourself can be really beneficial to practice build orders, but also to just practice mechanics.

Just ladder 10 games one rax FE. Waaaay better than playing AI. The insane AI also "cheats" meaning it dosent need the same ammount of minerals/gas to build stuff.
